Abstract
Products boiling below 93 DEG C. are obtained by hydrocracking a paraffinic naphtha boiling in the range 93-210 DEG C. in the presence of a catalyst comprising silver intimately associated with an acid-acting support comprising 50-90% silica and 10-50% alumina by weight, the intimate association having been achieved by contacting the support in hydrogel form with a solution of a silver salt. The feed preferably contains at least 70% vol. of paraffins and may be a raffinate from the solvent extraction of a catalytic reformate, and conversion is effected at 232-454 DEG C., 35-210 atm./g., 0.1-25 vol./vol./hr. with a hydrogen to oil mol ratio of 5-25:1.
