Abstract

1,018,788. Automatic photographic enlarger. MID-CENTRAL EQUIPMENT CO, Inc. April 1, 1963 [April 9, 1962], No. 12831/63. Heading G2A. An automatic photographic printing apparatus comprises a plurality of projection means for forming images of different sizes from a negative, automatic means for moving the projection means into the different operative positions, for feeding a continuous strip of sensitised material across the printing position, and for exposing the sensitised material to the projected image, and manual means for positioning the negative in the projecting postion. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, light from a projection system 33 is passed through a negative in a window 76 through one of a set of lens 66-67 on a turret 65 and a masking device on plate 4 and on to a film which passes from spool 49 to spool 53 via a slot formed by plate 47 and another plate 48. The negative is one of several on a film which is moved manually between spools 24, 25. Plates 47, 48, 65 are connected by means of a rod 57, plate 47 comprises apertures 62, 64, 63 which correspond to lenses 66, 68, 67 on plate 65 so that positives of different sizes can be obtained and the whole of one section of the positive film be used at any setting. Electrical control means are provided for counting the numbers of exposures and for rotating the plates 47, 48, and 65. The exposure time, determined by the length of time a lamp in housing 33 is hit is controlled by a photoelectric cell receiving light from the negative. The cell is manually adjustable to receive light from any desired part of the negative.
