Abstract

Sledges; propelling by means other than adhesion driving-wheels and racks. -A motor sledge comprises a pair of front runners 10, 11 connected by cross-members 12, 13, the member 13 being centrally pivoted to a bolster to which are pivoted rods 15, 16, the rear ends of which are attached to a rotatably mounted cross-member 20 between the rear runners 17, 18. The sledge is driven by a propeller 43 driven through bevel-gearing and a universal joint 42 from a shaft 27, which is driven through reversing friction gearing from the shaft 25. The reversing- gear comprises bevel-wheels 26, 28 adapted to engage with a single wheel 32 or a pair of interengaging wheels 33, 34. The engine and body of an ordinary motor-vehicle are used, the frame 44 being carried by springs 45, 46.
