Abstract
1,018,079. Hinges. HOLMES BROTHERS (LONDON) Ltd. and BARROWSIDE (PRESSURE CASTINGS) Ltd. July 17, 1964 [Aug. 12, 1963], No. 31805/63. Heading E2F. Two members of a levelling staff are interconnected and locked in the fully folded or extended position by means of a spring urged hinge comprising two elements, attached one to each staff member and having relative angular movement. One element comprises a circular portion 6 having an integral skirting 8 and a central aperture 9 with radially extending recess 10. The second element comprises a circular raised portion 13 which engages the skirting 8 of the first element and has a recess 14 for the reception of a spring loaded detent 15 having a limb and a button 16. When the members are locked, the limb of the detent is received partly in the recess 14 and partly in the recess 10, with the button 16 extending through the central aperture 9. The members are released by depressing the button 16 to release the detent from recess 10.
