Abstract

1,017,543. Shift registers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Aug. 28, 1964 [Sept. 2, 1963], No. 34630/63. Heading G4C. [Also in Division H3] A shift register comprises a bi-stable circuit in which the transistors are switched from one state into the other by the residual charge in a series chain of two or more charge-storage diodes. Clock pulses are applied through diodes D2 and D2<SP>1</SP> to effect the switching which is inhibited by the presence of a gating input through Dl or D1<SP>1</SP> which effectively shortcircuits the charge-storage diodes. Any change in input information should occur only during the negative half-cycles of the clock pulses to avoid resetting by the input signals directly. The various circuit components can be formed in one single crystal of semi-conductor material.
