Abstract

1,016,811. Artificial heart valves. PRESNA MECHANIKA NORODNI PODNIK. June 9,1964 [June 10, 1963], No.23936/64. Heading A5R. [Also in Division F2] An artificial cardiac or aortic valve comprises a porous plastics ring 1 as a valve seat, a cone 2 as valve closing means, cooperating with ring 1 and stops on said ring to limit the movement of the cone with respect to the ring. The stops may take the form of U-shaped wires 3 which engage the bottom of the cone 2 or, as in Fig. 3, not shown, engage a rod terminated by a cap, extending from the top of the cone. The ring 1 may be provided with openings 5 for sewing the ring to the surrounding tissues, and with conically shaped ring 4 to prevent the tissues of the heart interfering with the action of the cone. The cone 2 may be provided with reinforcing metal insert 6.
