Abstract

Heading D1G [Also in Divisions F4 and H2] A sewing machine comprises two or more electric lamps (see Divisions F4 and H2), mounted so that their concentrated beams can be directed upon predetermined points or lines provided on the work, in order to indicate to an operator the correct orientation of the work relative to a clamp or like movable part of the machine. As shown, one lamp is arranged to direct a small narrow strip of light L1 at right angles to and crossing the centre line of the work clamp 2, and a second lamp is arranged to direct a spot of light L2 on to the centre line near the back of the clamp. The work is marked with two lines A and B forming a Tee, and is correctly located when the light strip L1 falls on the junction of the Tee and the light spot L2 falls on the stem of the Tee. An adjustable mirror 1 is provided for observation of the spot L2.
