A cutting blade for sawing stone or like material comprises a body having a water passageway 21 extending therethrough, cutting segments 22 mounted on the body to form a cutting edge, means 23 for supplying water to the passageway, and restricted discharge passages 28 between the segments and in communication with the passageway for discharging jets of water against the bottom of the kerf cut by the segments when the blade is moved. In the reciprocatory form, the body of the blade is made up from laminations 17, 18, 19, Fig. 3 (not shown), the inner lamination 18 being narrower in order to form one edge of the passageway 21, the other edge being constituted by metal inserts 27 moulded into the cutting segment 22; the laminations and inserts are spot-welded together, gaps being left between the ends of the inserts to form the passages 28. In a modification the lamination 18 may be dispensed with, and a step formed in each plate 17 to define the passageway 21. In a further modification, the inserts 27 are replaced by a continuous metal strip having grooves cut therein for the passage of water between the segments, the latter being secured to the edge of the plates by soldering or brazing. In the rotary form of saw, Fig. 12 (not shown), three discs 17a, 18a are spot-welded together with the metal inserts 27a to define within the blade a passageway 21a. Water is fed via a nozzle 35 into a dished ring 33 secured to the plate 17a, the water entering the passageway 21a by means of holes 23a.
