Abstract

1,013,866. Filter leaves. MULTI METAL WIRE CLOTH CO. Inc. July 6, 1964, No. 27745/64. Heading B1D. A filter leaf comprises a bag, Fig. 1 (not shown), stretched over a support structure consisting of two plastics sheets 12, 13, each having corrugations forming vertical channels 16 and marginal portions forming a tubular border 32, the lower horizontal portion of the border forming a filtrate conduit, into which channels 16 open at 24, the conduit having an outlet 23. Sheets 12, 13 are vacuummoulded polystyrene and are adhesively joined at inturned flanges 20, 22. The bag may be woven nylon or metal. Outlet 23 may be formed as a half-cylinder on each sheet 12, 13, or separately, Fig. 6 (not shown), and the structure may broaden adjacent to the outlet Fig. 5 (not shown). In use, one or more leaves are immersed in the water of a swimming pool, being located in an adjoining cavity, and a vacuum pump connected to outlet(s) 23.
