Abstract

101,339. Metals Research Co., (Assignees of Weidlein, E. R.). Aug. 31, 1915, [Convention date]. Sulphatizing. - In a process of obtaining copper from ores &c. by leaching with sulphuric acid and precipitating the copper from the neutralized copper sulphate solution by sulphur dioxide, as described in Specification 10500/14, the solution, together with the sulphur dioxide, is circu. lated through a heated precipitating-tank, and the residual hot liquor is circulated in heatexchanging relation with the entering liquor. In the apparatus shown, copper sulphate solution and sulphur dioxide are passed from a tank 1 through a heatexchanger 4 and pipe 7 to a precipitating-vessel 9, the pipe 7 and vessel 9 having jackets through which heated oil is circulated from a heater 16. The residual liquor passes through a pipe 10 to the heat-exchanger 4 and thence, after cooling, to the leach tanks. The precipitated copper iswithdrawn from a vessel 35 provided with valves 34, 36.
