Apparatus for determining the ratio of two pressures e.g. the input and output pressures of a jet engine comprises pressure sensitive members 1, 2 having push rods 4, 5 pivotally connected at 6 to a resolving link 7 pivoted at 9 on a rotatable crank 10. A vacuum capsule 12 with a push rod 13 connected to point 6 is provided to compensate for the pressure on the outside of members 1, 2 so that the pressure ratio determined may be the ratio of the absolute pressures. Alternatively the capsule 12 may be omitted and casing 3 evacuated. When resolving link 7 is moved, by the forces developed in members 1, 2, to a position where its axis is not parallel to that of crank 10 a contact 8 is either made or broken to operate a signal. The ratio between the pressures at which this signal is given depends on the angular position of crank 10. The crank 10 may be set at a predetermined value so that the signal is given at a predetermined angle or alternatively the signal can operate a servo system which adjusts the position of the crank 10 until the axes of the crank and link 7 are parallel. An indicator is connected to crank 7 to give a continuous indication of the ratio of the pressures. Specification 832,766 is referred to.
