Abstract
1,012,893. Orthodontic appliances. M. DENHOLTZ. May 26, 1964 [Sept 30, 1963], No. 21629/64. Heading A5R. An orthodontic appliance comprises a pressure member 10 adapted for disposition in front of the alveolar tissue of a patient, a wire element 11 embedded in or attached to the member 10 and having wire end sections 12 and 13 extending from the pressure member 10, the wire end sections being provided with coil springs 17 and 20 (or loops 38, 41 &c as in Fig. 8) for cushioning pressure applied to the pressure member 10 by the patient's lip. The end sections may be provided with a barb 56 and are connected to the teeth by buccal tubes 23 and 27 and molar bands 24 and 28. The pressure member may have attached thereto a resilient band 47 (Fig. 9). The pressure member may be made of polyethylene.
