Abstract

[Also in Division B5] An injection moulding or die casting machine has a mould cavity from which leads an air outlet duct formed in two sections, the first section leading from the mould and being joined to the second section or a channel intermediate the two sections by an acute bend, the duct being closable by a movable closure element having a stop surface located at the acute bend and engageable by material forced from the mould through said first section so as to move the element from its open position into a second position closing the duct. The closure element may be a rotary valve member 13, Fig. 1, which is returnable to the open position by a piston 21, or a slide valve member. In addition to the ejector rods 61, Fig. 5, acting on the casting proper, other ejector pins attached to a plate 45 may operate on the material frozen in the air outlet.
