Abstract

In a mineral-mining machine in which two separately powered groups of rotary cutters are arranged at the front of the machine to rotate about spaced axes extending parallel to the direction of advance of the machine to make overlapping cuts means is provided to positively maintain a rotary cutter of one group out of phase with an overlapping and laterally adjacent rotary cutter of the other group. Preferably phasing gear for transmitting out of balance power is provided between the gear trains of the drives between the rotary cutters and the associated motors of each group. Specifications 800,864 and 975,556 are referred to.
