1,010,724. Collapsible handtrucks. RESEARCH MANUFACTURING Inc. Oct. 21, 1964, No. 42897/64. Heading B7B. The side frame members of a hand truck comprise a number of sections 16 hinged on alternate sides by hinges 15 to allow collapsing and the truck is maintained in its erected position by rotating the side frame members through 90 degrees about their longitudinal axes into the position shown in Fig. 4. To collapse the truck the spring-pressed sleeve 33 is disengaged from the end of the handle part 32 and both parts 31, 32 rotated through 90 degrees, thus bringing the hinge pins of the hinges 15 into planes parallel to the load-bearing surface to allow relative folding. The members 17, 18 carry sleeves 166 at their outer ends to engage the rods connecting the parts 16a, 16c of each section 16.
