Abstract

1,009,874. Tape measures. J. G. ROE. July 30, 1962 [May 24, 1962], No. 29205/62. Heading G1M. A tape measure comprises a shell 16 with a well-like aperture 30 and a cover plate 18 having an integral central hub structure comprising a bearing portion 20 journalled in the aperture 30 and an annular flange portion 22 to which the metal tape 12 is secured. A stud member with a flat head 26 and an interposed spring washer 28 are used to secure the parts rotatably together. The shell and cover are formed of moulded plastics material having strength, rigidity and high surface lubricity e.g. the resin known under the Trade Mark Debrin.
