Abstract

100,938. Davis, G. W., and Helmick, C. A. May 11, 1916. Locking nuts.-Under the nut 16 is placed a washer 12 having a boss 13 formed to correspond with the nut, and on its lower face teeth 15 to bite into woodwork. When used with metalwork, the washer has on its lower face a shallow square boss to fit a corresponding hole in the work. After the nut has been screwed up, it is locked by a thin metal sleeve 17 which fits over it and the boss of the washer. Tongues 18 prevent the accidental movement of the locking-sleeve, by springing into recesses in the boss and engaging the bottom of the nut.
