Abstract
1,009,259. Apparatus for casting kerbs, &c. POWER CURBERS Inc. Nov. 12, 1963, No. 44706/63. Heading E1S. In an apparatus for casting .kerbs, etc. in which a hopper 17 from which concrete is fed to a kerb mould 44 by a screw 20, Fig. 1, or screws 65, 66, Fig. 7, the thrust of which moves the apparatus forward, the mould contains an auxiliary screw or screws 114, 115, the axes of which are offset from that of the feeding screw and which compact the concrete in the mould. The mould 67a, Fig. 7, is for laying a combined kerb and gutter. The mould may be high and narrow and have the auxiliary screw or screws with axes offset vertically below the axes of the feeding screws, Figs. 3-5 (not shown) or the mould may be low and wide and have the axes of the screws offset laterally on each side of the axis of the feeding screw or screws, Fig. 8 and 9 (not shown). The screws are driven from a motor 43 by chains 40, 33, 25, 52. Fig. 2 (not shown) illustrates a modification having two pairs of auxiliary screws laterally offset and two feeding screws 65, 66 rotating in opposite directions.
