Abstract
1,008,143. Positive clutches. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Dec. 6, 1961 [Jan. 10, 1961], No. 43730/61. Heading F2C. Positive clutch rollers 5 carried in recesses 3 in the hubs of gear pinions 7, 17 are pressed against the action of return springs 4 into grooves in a shaft 6 for clutch engagement when a sliding sleeve 19, having cams 12 coacting with balls as rollers 1 which act on the roller 5, is moved to the left or right. In Figs. 1-6 (not shown), the clutch is balk-ring synchronized and the sliding sleeve 19 acts on the balk rings on which the cams 12 are formed. The passages carrying the balls 1 may be inclined and the roller carrying recesses 3 may be shaped so that during clutch engagement the reaction on the sliding sleeve 19 is negligible for one direction of rotation. In Figs. 9-11 (not shown), two rollers are carried by each recess 3 and the reaction on the sliding sleeve 19 is negligible for both directions of rotation.
