Abstract
1,007,443. Mincers. GLOBE SLICING MACHINE CO. Inc. Feb. 17, 1964, No. 6526/64. Heading A4C. The barrel 12 containing the feed worm 4 and cutting disc 15 of a mincer is releasably locked to the sleeve 6 of a fixed casing 1, the connection being made by pushing and rotating the annular barrel end 11 into an annular portion 10 of the sleeve 6 with a fixed pin 17 projecting inwardly of the sleeve 6 engaged in an inclined or L-shaped recess 18 formed in the barrel end 11 and being locked when the pin 17 reaches the end of the recess 18 by rotating a handled pin 20, 27 housed transversely in the sleeve 6, the handled pin 20 being formed in its cylindrical shank with a recess 23 which conforms with the inner surface of the annular portion 10 to permit entry of the barrel end 11 whereafter rotation of the pin 20 engages the latter in a recess 19 in the barrel end 11. The arrangement is such that the handle 27 cannot be swung down to the locking position of the pin 20 until the feed hopper 14 is properly aligned in the vertical position so that if, before locking the pin 20, rotation of the cutter locking ring 28 in the clockwise direction, as viewed from the right of Fig. 2, causes rotation of the barrel 12 to disengage the pin 17 from the end of the recess 18 the locking handle 27 cannot be swung down. In operation the worm 4 rotates anticlockwise, as viewed from the right in Fig. 2, whereby any tendency to rotate the barrel 12 serves to retain the fixed pin 17 in the recess 18. The locations of the pin 17 and recess could be interchanged. A grub screw 30 retains the pin 20 in the sleeve 6 by engaging a nicked portion of the pin 20. The hopper 14 is anchored to a feed pan by a spring pressed pin 15. The squared end 2 of the worm shaft 3 engages the drive motor shaft.
