Abstract
1,006,904. Gas chromatography. PECHINEY COMPAGNIE DE PRODUITS CHIMIQUES ET ELECTROMETALLURGIQUES. July 11, 1962 [July 13, 1961], No. 26646/62. Heading B1L. The outlet end of a gas chromatography column is subdivided into a plurality of capillary channels 3, the number and arrangement of which is such that a constant gas vector speed is obtained throughout the outlet end of the column. As shown, the column head 1 is attached to the body 2 of the column by a collar and is provided with sixteen channels. The top 4 of each channel is internally threaded to receive the externally threaded head of a capillary tube whose body is housed within the channel 3. The tubes may have a diameter of 0.5 mm. An example is given relating to the separation of pentane from a gaseous mixture using a column packed with bricks saturated with dinonyl-phthalate.
