Abstract

Oxidizable metal surfaces, e.g. Cu or Ag or alloys thereof, are plated first with platinum, and then with rhodium, the undercoat depressing the porosity of the top rhodium coat. The platinum bath preferably contains dinitrito-sulphato-platinous acid, and the rhodium bath rhodium sulphate. Specification 897,690 is referred to.
