Abstract

1,003,834. Dispensing bottles and the like. F. BETTINI. July 23, 1962 [Aug. 4, 1961], No. 28173/62. Heading B8S. Bottles or like generally cylindrical articles 2, 2<SP>1</SP>... arranged in a staggered pair of columns in a hopper 1 are dispensed singly by alternate operation of a pair of hinged gates 3, 3<SP>1</SP>. Normally one of the gates, covering half the width of the hopper, is closed and engages the lowermost bottle 2 which in turn supports the superimposed bottles. When this gate is opened, the bottle 2 is released and the other gate, in closing, engages the next lowest bottle 2<SP>1</SP>. Linkages 7 by which the gates are operated are interconnected as shown in Fig. 2 and operated by a cam 13, Fig. 4 (not shown), which engages cam followers 12 on the two linkages 7. In a bottle dispenser comprising a plurality of such hoppers, the operating cam of each hopper is driven by its own individual motor so that a failure of one of the hoppers need not immobilize the whole dispenser.
