Abstract
1,003,640. Delivering sheets. SIEFVERT & FORNANDER A.B. April 9, 1964 [April 24, 1963], No. 14678/64. Heading B6H. A group of sheets leaving a cutting apparatus and extending transversely of the feed path with their cut sides closely adjacent each other, have their side edges separated by tilting bodily each sheet about an axis parallel to the direction of feed, whereby the sheets can readily be stacked into separate compartments which are separated by partitions. As described, wide printed blanks are separated from a hopper and fed by dogs on endless chains, and then by feed rollers, between pairs of rotary knives which cut them into sheets 25. The sheets are then all advanced in side-by-side order by feed rollers 17 under an arcuate guide plate 18 to rubber feed rollers 19, all the rollers having circumferential grooves coinciding with the cut sides of the sheets. As each sheet leaves the rollers 19, one side edge is depressed by a fixed guide wire 20 on a rod 21, and the opposite side is raised by a guide wire 22 held in the face of a sawtooth section shelf 26, Fig. 4. The side edges of the sheets 25 are thus separated by the bodily tilting of the sheets, and they can thus pass down into compartments separated by thin sheet-metal partitions 28 where they stand on edge against the inclined sections of the shelf 26. The sheets are guided in their descent by curved plates 24, and they rest on a curved base 29 which merges with a feed table 30. Openings in the shelf 26 accommodate a set of pushers 31 which are secured to a yoke 33 pivoted on stub shafts 36, and this yoke can be reciprocated by pairs of rods 39 acting on bell-cranks 40a, 40b to cause the pushers 31 to push all the sheets out of the compartments on the shelf 26 over the base 29 to form a series of stacks. Tongues 44, which are integral with the partitions 28 and guide plates 24, deflect each sheet as it is pushed away from the shelf 26, and prevent the sheet sliding back against the shelf.
