Abstract

In the coating of an object 7 with a liquid metal, e.g. tin, the area covered is controlled by a net-like sheet 13 of e.g. wire gauze which is positioned between the object and the bath. In a modification, Fig. 4, the pores in the gauze 13 are filled with metal by pulling it through a bath 3 and then transferring the metal by contacting the object 7 on a conveyer 19. <PICT:1003440/C6-C7/1>
