The conduit for a remote control wire 24 transmitting axial and/or rotary motion comprises a ribbon 32, e.g. of steel, provided with holes 38 connecting a series of short tunnellike protrusions 36 formed alternately on opposite sides of the ribbon, and a surrounding sheath 34 of antifriction material which depends into contact with the wire 24 between the protrusions 36 to form a discontinuous bearing surface for the wire. The sheath may be of plastics such as nylon, linear polyethylene, polyester or p.t.f.e. The control may be used, Fig. 1 (not shown) for opening an automobile air vent.
