Abstract

100,302. International Color & Chemical Co., (Assignees of Ramage, A. S.). April 16, 1915, [Convention date]. Insecticides.-The particles of substantially insoluble insecticidal substances, such as arsenate of lead, paris green and bordeaux mixture, used for spraying plants are coated with an insoluble metallic soap. A solution of ordinary soap, preferably tallow soap, isadded to a suspension of the insecticide, and a soluble salt, such as lead acetate, lead nitrate, or copper sulphate, is then added so as to cause precipitation of lead or copper soap on the particles of the insecticide. The composition may be used at once or may be converted into a paste, or the precipitate may be employed in the dry form. The product is stated to be waterrepellant and to remain on the foliage for a considerable time.
