Abstract

1,002,998. Microwave filters. MICROWAVE DEVELOPMENT LABORATORIES Inc. March 16, 1962, No. 10265/62. Heading H1W. A waveguide microwave filter comprises a resonant element 13 and a pair of reactive elements 23, 24 spaced on either side of the resonant element not more than a quarterwavelength apart. Element 13 may be in the form of a resonant window and elements 23, 24 may consist of conductive strips extending between the narrow walls of the waveguide. These provide capacitance. The structure has a band-pass characteristic which exhibits three attenuation zeros within the band-pass. More elements may be used to form an iterative structure. In a modification, the resonant central element comprises two inductive posts 61, 62, Fig. 5, and a pair of capacitative probes 63, 64. These may form the discharge gap of a TR tube. Alternatively, the probes may be movable, e.g. by means of a solenoid, to effect a short-circuit across the waveguide.
