Abstract

A roller latch for connecting a sleeve 10 to a body 20 comprises a lever 17 pivotally mounted at one end in a groove 19 of the body 20 and extending at its opposite end between balls 14 and 15, 16. In the latched position, balls 15, 16 lie in a cage between the inclined abutment surfaces 43, 45 of the body 10 and the latch body 41 of the body 20, respectively. Ball 14 in this position, lies wedged in a recess 25 between lever 17 and the head 27 of a plunger 26. To release the latch the plunger is raised freeing the ball 14 so that lever 17 moves out of engagement with groove 19. The line of points of contact of the balls 15, 16 with their respective abutment surfaces is inclined to the line of movement of body 20 to prevent release. Three latches may be arranged around the body 20.
