Abstract
100,264. MacKay Copper Process Co., (Assignees of MacKay, H. S.). April 9, 1915, [Convention date]. Cells; electrodes. - In a metal-depositing cell, in which the edges of electrode plates 20, 22, shown in horizontal section in Fig. 4, are held by non-conducting partitions 23, 24, the insoluble anode plates are perforated, so as to reduce their surface area by, say, one-halt. The partitions may also be perforated. Each partition may consist of. a number of strips held by studs on the anodes, and preferably rabbeted at their edges to receive the cathodes. Wedges 25 at one end of the tank force the strips together. On opposite top edges of the tank are attached insulating-bars 10, Fig. 6. Conductors 12 on the sides of the tank or of the insulating-bars are provided with lugs 13 bent into notches in the upper faces of the insulating-bars, so that cross-bars 15 from which the electrodes are suspended rest on the lugs of the two conductors alternately. The electrolyte may be run in at one end of the tank by a pipe extending to the bottom, and carried off at the other end bv a pipe at the level of the liquid,
