Abstract

1,002,290. Rotary pumps. WAYNE TANK AND PUMP CO. Ltd. (JURGENS & WAYNE APPARATE UND PUMPENBAU G.m.b.H.). June 19, 1963 [June 20, 1962], No. 23808/62. Heading F1F. A rotary pump of the outwardly-sliding vane type comprises a casing 10 containing a stationary liner 19 having a sealing roller 107 lodged in an axially-extending groove 106 adjacent an eccentrically-mounted cylindrical rotor 16 which is provided with vanes 17 biased outwardly by compression springs 102, said roller being pressed against the surface of the rotor and the wall of groove 106 by the difference in pressure between a suction opening 24 and a delivery opening 25. Groove 106 may have a cross-section of e.g. rectangular, trapezoidal or circular configuration (Figs. 6, 7, 8, not shown), and the casing, rotor and vanes may be made of synthetic plastic material e.g. polyvinylchloride. The rotor is driven by a hand crank (Fig. 2, not shown) and the casing has a suction connection 15 adapted to engage with a suction pipe (not shown) which extends into a barrel, a delivery connection 26 being adapted to engage with a flexible pipe or hose 27. A hole 30 is provided in a reinforcing rib 29 to receive a delivery nozzle (Fig. 5, not shown) when it is not in use.
