Abstract
1,001,791. Electric selective signalling systems. ENGLISH ELECTRIC. CO. Ltd. Aug. 18, 1961 [Aug. 19, 1960], No. 28801/60. Heading G4H. In a system for transferring the setting of a first uni-selector to a second uni-selector, the first uniselector (not shown on the Figure) applies a voltage corresponding to its setting to a terminal 41, Fig. 2, selected from a set of ten different reference voltages 23, the second uni-selector applies a voltage corresponding to its setting to a terminal 42 via one of its wipers 28, and a comparator arrangement, constituted by a current limiter 40 and a relay 38, 39, in series between terminals 41 and 42, so controls the stepping solenoid 31 of the second uni-selector that it is stepped repeatedly until its setting is the same as that of the first, that is until the two voltages at terminals 41 and 42 are equal. The driving circuit for the solenoid 31 of the second uniselector includes a transistor amplifier and conventional stepping contacts 32. Circuits are provided, 29, 46 (not described in detail) which prevent the first uni-selector changing its setting while transference is being effected and a third bank 30, on the second uni-selector controls an indicator. The system is said to be for use in a rolling mill where operators wish to transfer data to successive operators as a piece of metal passes through their section.
