Abstract
1,001,736. Refrigerating; air heating units. McCRAY REFRIGERATOR CO. Inc. March 11, 1964 [April 15, 1963], No. 10214/64. Headings F4H and F4V. The air-cooled condenser 14 of a compression-type refrigerating system is located in a housing 10 having an adjustable inlet louvre 32 and an adjustable outlet louvre 52 and is associated with a fan 26 which draws air over the condenser, a further adjustable louvre 76 being provided in the housing for permitting air from the discharge side of the fan to be recirculated over the condenser to maintain the temperature of the air passing over the condenser above a predetermined minimum. The condenser is disposed in a duct 22 in the lower part of a partition 24 and the louvre 76 is disposed in an aperture in the upper part of the partition. The position of the blades 78 of louvre 76 is controlled by a lever 88 which is actuated by a device 98 in response to the ambient air temperature sensed by an element 104, the lever 88 being coupled by rods 92 and 94, L-levers 50 and 68 which respectively control the positions of the blades of louvres 32 and 52. The arrangement is such that when the louvre 76 is fully open the louvres 32 and 52 are fully closed, as shown, and air in the housing is continuously recirculated over the condenser while when louvre 76 is fully closed, louvres 32 and 52 are fully open and air is drawn through louvre 32 and over condenser 14 by the fan 26 and is discharged through louvre 52 with no recirculation. The housing 10 is mounted on the exterior of an enclosure in which the evaporator 16 of the system is positioned and the compressor 12 and fan motor 28 are mounted on a platform 30 beneath which a refrigerant receiver 18 is disposed.
