Abstract

1,001,537. Colour television. MARCONI Ltd. April 3, 1964 [Aug. 13, 1963], No. 31929/63. Heading H4A. [Also in Division G2] In a colour television camera light stop means is arranged to provide a larger aperture for light of the component colour of least effective luminance value than for light of the other component colours. Where the component colours are red, green and blue, blue is the component selected. In a simultaneous system a common light stop may be arranged as illustrated with a central clear aperture 1 and an annular surround of blue transmitting medium 2. The aperture 1 may be of a size to provide an aperture of f/30 for the red and green light and the annulus 2 may be dimensioned so as to provide an aperture of f/11 for the blue light. In a simultaneous system where the component images are formed over separate light paths a light stop of different aperture may be provided in each path. In a sequential system utilizing a rotating colour filter, the filter sections are arranged to constitute light stops of different size. Reference is made to the use of adjustable apertures, and neutral density wedges to control the general level of illumination. The invention is stated to be of particular use in television apparatus which is employed in aircraft visual flight simulators.
