Abstract
A system 100 capable of monitoring a mobile environment comprises: a sensor 110; a system controller 105 communicably coupled to sensor 110, providing an information stream derived from the sensor; trigger input(s) 135; a receiving system operating on the information stream upon activation of the trigger input; and a mode detection system, wherein the mode detection system is operable to select between at least a continuous information capture mode and a low power mode. The low power mode includes limited capture of the sensed information stream. Also independently claimed is the above system used for monitoring over a period of time that the mobile environment is not receiving power, having an additional standby mode also including a limited information stream capture. A further independent claim relates to storage of sensed information responsive to a trigger input when there is a low power source level, i.e. below adequate. The system is applicable to a vehicle.
