Abstract
Disclosed is an internet service system with a primary server for managing application servers coupled to it via a network. The primary server runs a program for detecting the availability and resource usage of the application servers. Each application server reports resource usage and availability to the main server program. The network has a plurality of user computers coupled to the application servers by the network, user computers sending data requests through the network and receiving response data. The network may have media server coupled to the primary server and the application servers, the media server having a data caching program for analyzing the data requests and caching a subset of the response data and at least one data storage device for caching the response data. Each application server may have user data management software for storing user data. The server program may have a resource allocation module for collecting usage data from the application servers and a connection transfer module for transferring a user connection from one server to another server when the usage data for the first server pasts a threshold. The system may have streaming management software on the application servers and the media server.
