Le brevet principal avait pour objet des perfectionnements aux affiches, tant aux affiches publicitaires, qu'aux affiches « peintes », obtenues par sérigraphie ou autre, en papier ou en toute autre matière (éventuellement textile, naturelle ou artificielle) ainsi qu'aux bandes d'entourage dite « de fond ». Pour faciliter la compréhension, ces différentes applications seront dénommées par la suite « support ».The main patent was aimed at improvements to posters, both advertising posters, “painted” posters, obtained by screen printing or otherwise, in paper or any other material (possibly textile, natural or artificial) as well as bands. so-called “background” entourage. Il concernait plus particulièrement les supports constitués, selon une technique utilisée depuis une dizaine d'années, notamment en Suisse, de deux éléments identiques superposés à leur mise en place sur chantier. Toutefois, une telle mise en place sur chantier de deux affiches, afin qu'elles soient exactement superposées, était très fastidieuse et, d'autre part, très satisfaisant la nuit, un tel affichage restait d'effet indifférent de jour car par un éclairement diurne de face, les couleurs n'étaient pas assez chatoyantes. C'était d'ailleurs pour y remédier que certains constructeurs avaient placé devant leurs affiches une plaque transparente en verre minéral ou organique ou avaient emprisonné leurs affiches entre deux plaques rassemblées par une bande d'entourage réalisant l'étanchéité. Malheureusement, ces essais furent loin d'être concluants car la plaque extérieure favorisait la réverbération, d'ailleurs fortement accentuée par la présence à proximité d'enseigne lumineuse, et, en outre, prises entre deux plaques, l'affiche était soumise à de fortes différences d'hygrométrie, dues tantôt à la condensation puis à l'excès de chaleur, ce qui entraînait la formation d'ondulations très inesthétiques. Un effet identique était enregistré lorsque l'affiche était collée sur la ou sur l'une des plaques étant donné la différence de dilatation entre la plaque et l'affiche. De plus, en cas de tempête ou de choc, le bris de la plaque pouvait créer des dégâts sérieux.It more particularly concerned the supports made up, according to a technique used for ten years, in particular in Switzerland, of two identical elements superimposed on their installation on site.
