Batterie électrique (10) pour aéronef, cette batterie (10) comportant : - un boîtier (12) comportant un logement interne (14) et un évent (18) d’évacuation de gaz, et - des cellules (16) de batterie électrique situées dans le logement (14) du boîtier (12), caractérisée en ce qu’elle comprend en outre, au niveau dudit évent (18), un système optique (20) sensible à une fumée (38) susceptible d’être générée par les cellules (16) dans le logement (14) en cas de dysfonctionnement de ces cellules, ce système (20) comportant un émetteur de lumière (32) et un récepteur de lumière (34) qui sont séparés par un espace (36) libre qui peut être traversé par de la fumée (38).
