Description
Domaine technique de l’inventionTechnical field of the invention
The invention relates to lighting devices which comprise a source of photons and a light guide which must participate in the production of a photometric function.
Etat de la techniqueState of the art
In what follows, the term "photometric function" means both a signaling photometric function, a lighting photometric function or a light effect photometric function, possibly decorative.
In certain fields, such as for example that of vehicles, possibly of the automotive type, lighting devices are used comprising a source generating photons and a light guide receiving in a first part the photons generated in order to transfer them into a second part. so that they participate in a chosen photometric function.
It will be noted that such lighting devices can be part of the optical units (front or rear) of vehicles responsible for providing at least one photometric function. In this case, the photometric function can be a signaling function, such as for example a daytime running light function (or DRL ("Daytime Running Light (or Lamp)" - light signaling automatically switched on when the vehicle is put into operation during the day)), or a turn indicator (or turn signal) function.
The light guides which are used in the lighting devices presented above are either of the cylindrical type with an exit of the photons perpendicular to their main direction, or of the flat type with an exit of the photons by an end face defined in their thickness, after these photons have been totally reflected between front and rear faces. These two possibilities do not offer a great diversity of light signatures and/or style effects and/or perceived light beam shapes. For example, in the case of a flat-type light guide, there is no known solution allowing photons to exit from any part of the front face (which has the largest observable surface). Indeed, it has been proposed to define a succession of prisms extending parallel in the same direction over the entire front face of the light guide. But in this case only the first prisms, first receiving the photons from the first part of the light guide, are perceived intensely illuminated while all the following prisms seem to be in shadow because the first prisms are not arranged to reflect towards the rear face part of the incident photons. As a result, only the sub-portion of the front face which comprises the first prisms performs the photometric function. It has also been proposed to define on the front face of the light guide a first zone first receiving the photons of the first part and devoid of prisms in order to ensure total reflection towards the rear face, then a second zone comprising a succession prisms extending parallel in the same direction on the rest of the front face. But in this case the first zone is perceived off, then only the first prisms of the second zone, first receiving the photons having been totally reflected by the rear face, are perceived intensely illuminated while all the prisms following seem to be in the shade because the first prisms are not arranged to reflect part of the incident photons towards the rear face. As a result, only the sub-portion of the second zone of the front face which comprises the first prisms performs the photometric function.
L’invention a donc notamment pour but d’améliorer la situation.The aim of the invention is therefore in particular to improve the situation.
Présentation de l’inventionPresentation of the invention
It proposes in particular for this purpose a lighting device comprising a source generating photons, and a light guide receiving in a first part the photons generated in order to transfer them into a second part comprising a rear face and a front face through which the transferred photons.
Ce dispositif d’éclairage se caractérise par le fait :This lighting device is characterized by the fact:
- que la première partie du guide de lumière est propre à transférer les photons générés suivant une première direction générale, et- that the first part of the light guide is suitable for transferring the photons generated in a first general direction, and
- que la face arrière de la seconde partie du guide de lumière comprend une succession de premières zones comportant chacune au moins une première protubérance propre à réfléchir des photons transférés incidents suivant une deuxième direction générale vers la face avant pour qu’ils sortent de cette seconde partie, sans autre réflexion, afin de participer à une fonction photométrique choisie.- that the rear face of the second part of the light guide comprises a succession of first zones each comprising at least one first protuberance capable of reflecting incident transferred photons in a second general direction towards the front face so that they come out of this second part, without further reflection, in order to participate in a chosen photometric function.
Thus, it is now possible to reflect (by a single total reflection along the second general direction) the incident transferred photons towards the entire front face, so that it appears fully illuminated for an outside observer.
The lighting device according to the invention may comprise other characteristics which may be taken separately or in combination, and in particular:

- la face avant de la seconde partie du guide de lumière peut être agencée de manière à répartir dans une partie au moins d’un espace extérieur les photons réfléchis suivant la deuxième direction générale et participant à la fonction photométrique ;- the front face of the second part of the light guide can be arranged so as to distribute in at least part of an exterior space the photons reflected in the second general direction and participating in the photometric function;
