Description
The invention relates to a solid mold for bending glass sheets against which a glass sheet brought to a deformation temperature is pressed in order to be bent, a device for bending and cooling glass sheets comprising said mold, as well as a method of bending glass sheets using said form or said device.
It is known to produce bent glass sheets by a process comprising: - heating them up to a deformation temperature in the flat state in a furnace by scrolling in the individual state on a bed of rollers, then - removing them from the furnace and brought them as soon as they come out of the oven in an upper bending mold, a lower frame lifting each sheet to press it against said upper mold and give it the desired shape. The glass sheet thus bent is then redeposited on the conveyor or dropped onto a cooling frame to be taken to a cooling station such as a quenching or semi-quenching station.
This technique is considered to be a “cold” technology, this expression meaning that the bending station is outside a heated enclosure. The bending therefore takes place in the ambient atmosphere of a factory workshop and not in a furnace. Mastering the positioning of the bending tools is simpler than in the case of hot technologies (bending in an oven with a bending form around 750°C), but on the other hand, the bending process is a race against time since as soon as it comes out of the oven, the glass sheet cools down and the adjustment of the process is made difficult. US 4,872,898 illustrates this “cold” technique. The pressing frame is discontinuous so as to be able to pass through the bed of rollers on which the sheet of glass initially rests. After pressing, the pressing frame descends to a level below the bed of rollers and thus redeposits the glass sheet on said bed of rollers. The rollers then start moving again to drive the sheet of glass to the quenching station.
According to another variant, the pressing frame descends but the upper form retains the sheet against it by a suction means comprising suction orifices in its contact surface with the sheet of glass. A cooling frame is then positioned under the upper form, then the suction is stopped and the sheet is thus dropped on the cooling frame which then takes it to a cooling zone.
Les WO02/06170A1 et WO2016/156735A1 décrivent des variantes de cette technique. Le US2010/0050694A1 divulgue en outre de prévoir des moyens de chauffer ou de refroidir une forme de bombage.WO02/06170A1 and WO2016/156735A1 describe variants of this technique. US2010/0050694A1 further discloses providing means for heating or cooling a bending mold.
Bending tools such as upper bending molds are usually made of steel, this material resists very well to the temperatures it undergoes, namely 700 to 800°C. Steel is however a heavy material and the repeated movement of the form vertically during the bending process requires powerful, expensive and energy-consuming lifting machines, this problem being all the more important as the sheets to be pressed are large. These steel forms include a thick stainless steel base in which holes are drilled to install resistors requiring high heating power (power in particular between 30 and 45KW/m² of bending surface). It has been observed that with this type of shape, the distribution of the heating at the level of the receiving surface of the glass varies greatly, the corners of the shape being very vulnerable because of a large exchange surface, and one observes strong temperature variations between the peripheral zone and the central zone of the bending surface of the form. The temperatures implemented are therefore very difficult to control, in particular the homogeneity of the temperature of the bending surface.
The invention relates to a solid bending mold for pressing a sheet of glass or several superimposed sheets of glass, called glass, said glass being brought to a deformation temperature, said mold comprising a bending surface, said mold comprising an electric heating circuit distributed in the form and a cooling circuit through which a cooling fluid is distributed in the form, the heating circuit being positioned between the bending surface and the cooling circuit.
The bending mold according to the invention is said to be “full” because all the zones of a main face of the lens (central zone, peripheral zone) come into contact with it, even if the mold may be provided with suction orifices. The use of the term "full" indicates that the shape is not of the frame type, only coming into contact with the glass at its periphery. The shape according to the invention can be concave or convex. It can be arranged so that its bending surface is oriented upwards, in which case the glass comes over it to be bent. It can be arranged so that its bending surface is oriented downwards, in which case the glass comes under it to be curved.
The heating and cooling circuits are distributed inside the form near the entire bending surface in order to create and maintain the same temperature substantially everywhere on the bending surface.
Advantageously, the form is made of aluminum. A person skilled in the art uses the term "aluminum", although of course it is generally an aluminum alloy, as for the present invention. This material is advantageous because it is much lighter than steel, conducts heat very well and is easy to machine. The use of aluminum makes it possible to quickly actuate the shape vertically without requiring a very powerful motorized mechanism, even for large glass, in particular with a main surface area greater than 1 m². Thus, the bending surface of the form can have an area less than or equal to 1 m² but also an area greater than 1 m². This great rapidity of the vertical displacement that can be given to the shape is advantageous in the case of "cold" bending since the glass cools rapidly as soon as it leaves the oven and it is useful that the shape, outside the oven, can move quickly to meet it to bomb it. A mold according to the invention in aluminum is mounted during bending at a maximum temperature below 350°C and even below 300°C. Using the mold according to the invention at a much lower temperature (“cold” environment) than those used with stainless steel molds in a hot environment makes it possible to better control temperature differences.
In order to limit thermal losses, the side edges of the form are advantageously provided with thermal insulation (for example 3 to 10 cm thick) forming a belt surrounding the bending surface when viewed from above. This thermal insulator can be a mineral wool. The contour of the form is closed by a casing containing the thermal insulation. On the upper part of the form, a sheet of thermal insulation advantageously completes the insulation that wraps the whole. Thanks to the insulation, heat exchange with the shape is mainly limited to the glass via the bending surface and heat losses are thus reduced to a minimum. Advantageously, the bending surface of the form extends beyond the periphery of the sheet to be bent by several centimeters, such as 1 mm to 100 mm, in particular 30 to 80 mm. This allows more insulation to be placed around the shape and it pulls the edge of the glass away from the cold environment around the shape. There are thus fewer cold spots on the periphery of the shape, especially in the corners.
The heating circuit generally comprises a plurality of electrical resistances, said resistances being generally straight. The cooling circuit generally comprises at least one pipe through which the cooling fluid, generally water, passes. The pipe can be copper or stainless steel.
The pipe can be copper or stainless steel.
Generally, the form comprises a solid metal part, the bending surface being formed by machining said solid metal part, the electric heating circuit comprising electric resistors housed in holes drilled in said mass, and the form also comprising a part in form of cavity called “cavity” in which the cooling circuit is placed, said cavity being placed beyond the heating circuit with respect to the bending surface. The shape structure therefore follows the following order: bending surface then heating circuit then cavity for the cooling circuit. At least one groove can advantageously be formed in said mass on the side opposite the bending surface to house the cooling circuit there. This groove improves heat exchange between the cooling circuit and the solid metal part.
The pipe can be in the form of a serpentine in order to go substantially everywhere in the cavity, that is to say to act vis-à-vis substantially the entire bending surface. Advantageously, however, the cooling circuit is not too concentrated at the periphery of the shape and is slightly more strongly concentrated at the center of the shape, in order to avoid excessive cooling at the periphery. The serpentine can realize in the form at least two round trips and preferably at least three round trips and preferably at least four round trips, in particular five round trips.
For a good distribution in the shape of the heating and cooling circuits, in top view, the cooling circuit advantageously crosses the heating circuit at least 5 times and preferably at least 10 times, or even at least 20 times.
In order to have a rapid action on the temperature of the bending surface, the heating circuit is advantageously close to the bending surface and follows the curvatures of this surface as well as possible. Thus, the resistors can be straight and have an inclination with respect to the horizontal, said inclination allowing one of their ends to be closer to the bending surface than if they were horizontal.
The form may be provided with orifices opening into the bending surface and with a suction system capable of sucking air through said orifices in order to press or hold the glass against it. Conduits passing through the solid metal part can emerge at the bending surface, said orifices being connected via the ducts to a suction system. The suction can be used to bend the glass and/or hold it while a cooling frame moves into position to receive the glass, then bring it into a cooling zone. The cavity used to receive the cooling circuit can also serve as a vacuum chamber. The orifices opening into the bending surface open into the cavity on the other side and the entire cavity is placed under vacuum. The form may comprise only one suction chamber constituted by the cavity, all the orifices of the bending surface communicating with it. In order to improve the sealing at the time of suction, it is however possible to provide two different suction zones, a peripheral suction to hold the glass at the time of pressing and which prevents the glass from detaching from the shape and a central suction. which ensures the correct conformation of the glass to the bending surface of the shape. To achieve these two suction zones, two suction chambers can be created separated by a partition like sheet metal. Provision can be made for each chamber to be controlled in depression independently of one another. The depressions can be made by fan tubes. The suction orifices may have a diameter included, for example, in the range from 2 to 6 mm. In the peripheral zone, the pitch from one orifice to another can be included, for example, in the range from 20 to 100 mm. These orifices at the periphery can for example be located at a distance from the edge of the lens included in the range ranging from 5 to 40 mm. In the zone inside the peripheral zone, called the central zone, the pitch from one orifice to the other can be included, for example, in the range from 80 to 240 mm. In this zone, the orifices can in particular be staggered.
The invention also relates to a device for bending by pressing a sheet of glass or several superimposed sheets of glass, called glass, said glass being brought to a deformation temperature, comprising a form according to the invention, and a means for conveying the glass, in particular a bed of rollers, suitable for conveying it in order to place it vis-à-vis the bending surface.
This device may comprise a regulation system configured to maintain a temperature of the bending surface that is substantially constant and homogeneous, in particular in steady state operation.
The configuration of the shape according to the invention allows fine regulation of the bending surface temperature, which has small temperature differences, which in particular makes it possible to work with thinner glasses, which are more sensitive to temperature variations of the curving surface. Thanks to the structure of the shape, the temperature regulation can be very reactive and corrects temperature drifts very quickly.
A shape according to the invention in aluminum is much lighter than its stainless steel version, which allows faster regulation, its lightness allowing the production of shapes of large dimensions, with the possibility of having a better uniformity of temperature of the surface. bending than for the stainless steel version. The cooling circuit allows better temperature regulation and better control of temperature variations.
The device may comprise a counter-shape having a contact surface for the glass having a curve complementary to that of the bending surface of said shape, the shape and the counter-shape being capable of approaching or moving away so as to to be able to squeeze the glass between them. Generally, the contact surface for the glass of the counter-form is a ring pressing the periphery of the glass, said ring possibly being continuous or discontinuous. In particular, the counter-form can be provided with a heating means capable of heating it. This heating of the counterform completes that in the form, which offers greater flexibility in adjusting the temperatures administered to the glass.
Generally, the bending surface of the form and/or that of the counter-form are coated with a material comprising refractory fibers, in particular metal, in particular stainless steel, well known to those skilled in the art, to come into contact hot glass.
The device may comprise a cooling frame able to be placed vis-à-vis the bending surface. A form according to the invention in the upper position, retains the glass thanks to its suction system then the suction is stopped and the curved glass is dropped on the cooling frame which then brings it into a cooling zone.
The device may comprise a furnace able to heat the glass up to a deformation temperature. The conveying means is suitable for conveying the glass through said oven and removing it from the oven, then placing it facing the bending surface. The device may include a mechanism for lowering or raising the form. In particular, being able to mount the form may be necessary to place a cooling frame under it. Thus, the form, if it is an upper bending form, can descend in the direction of the glass, then take charge of the glass, bend it then drop it on a suitable conveying device bringing it to the zone of cooling. In particular, for bending, a counter-form can rise to lift the glass while the form descends, then the glass is pressed between form and counter-form. Then, the form can go up and the counter-form down, the form holding the glass thanks to its suction system, then a cooling frame passes under the glass, the suction is stopped and the glass is then dropped on the frame cooling which then takes it to the cooling zone.
The shape according to the invention is particularly suitable for bending thin glass, that is to say with a thickness that can be at most 2.1 mm, or even at most 1.6 mm, in particular with a thickness included in the range from 1 mm to 1.6 mm. In particular, this thin glass is advantageously bent in the individual sheet state. The glass can have a main surface area less than or equal to 1 m² but can also have a large main surface area, in particular greater than 1 m².
The invention also relates to a process for bending and cooling a sheet of glass or several superimposed sheets of glass, called glass, comprising heating the glass to its deformation temperature, then bending it by pressing against the surface of bending of the shape according to the invention or of the shape of the device according to the invention, then its cooling.
In steady state operation, the regulation is advantageously ensured by the action of the cooling circuit, the heating circuit being supplied constantly, or even being stopped. Indeed, we noticed that in the context of "cold" bending, with an aluminum shape whose temperature never exceeds 350°C and preferably 300°C, the glass coming out of the oven while it is at a temperature above 550°C, the glass heats up the shape and the shape cools the glass (thus helping to freeze it), so that in steady state operation, it has proven unnecessary to strongly heat the shape and the heating by the heating circuit can even be stopped. Regulation by the cooling circuit is then sufficient to maintain a constant and homogeneous temperature over the entire bending surface. There is therefore a significant thermal gain since the heating in the form is mainly used in the ramp-up phase up to the steady state of operation. Moderate heating power by the electric heating circuit, ie between 10 and 20 KW per m² of bending surface, is therefore sufficient for the form to operate correctly.
The curved glass sheets produced according to the invention can be used to produce glazing for vehicles, in particular for road vehicles (automobile, coach, bus, truck, etc.). They can be mounted in individual sheets on the vehicles or be assembled in laminated glazing before mounting on the vehicle.
