Abstract

According to a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a cart (100) with a frame, which has a quadrilateral shape, and a detachable handle (120), which has at least one leg (122). Description

CART

The present invention relates to load carriers used in logistics. In particular, the present invention relates to trolleys with a removable handle.

Prior art

Carts are commonly known in the logistics field as wheeled platforms for transporting items, such as boxes, crates, panels, etc., into and between warehouses or manufacturing facilities and transport vehicles. Although carriages are mainly carried by hand, special carriages have been developed to interlock with other carriages in order to carry multiple carriages on a train. Such a train of trolleys can be pulled directly by a forklift or similar vehicle. Modifying a traditional trolley so that it can be pulled on a train usually adds complexity and weight, which is not often desired.

Auxiliary devices have been developed to accommodate a carriage which otherwise could not be connected to another carriage to form a train, and to incorporate the carriage into a train of other such auxiliary devices for transporting carriages . These auxiliary devices are known as tugs. Tugs are modular load carriers on wheels with a connection to another tug and/or a vehicle to pull a train of tugs. Although tugs solve the problem of simultaneously transporting several simply constructed carts, the actual cooperation between tug and cart can be cumbersome or laborious.

There has been a longstanding need for a simple trolley that can be used flexibly in a tug configuration. The present invention aims to provide such a trolley or at least to provide the public with a useful alternative.

Claims (10)

Trolley (100) comprising:

• a frame (110) having a quadrilateral shape and
• a detachable handle (120) comprising at least one arm (122),

characterizedby at least one socket (130) provided on four lateral sides (150) of the frame (110) to detachably and repeatedly receive said at least one branch (122). A cart (100) according to claim 1, wherein;

• the chassis (110) includes a frame (111) with a side side surface defining the periphery of the chassis (110) and wherein
• said at least one sleeve (130) is provided on each lateral side (150) in the form of a channel which opens onto the lateral side surface.

A trolley (100) according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the detachable handle (120) includes at least one latch (123) which includes a terminal end with a counterpart shape, such as a claw (124), which is configured to engage with a counterpart shape on said at least one socket (130), when the latch (123) is in an engaged state. Trolley (100) according to claim 3, in which the latch (123) is connected to the arm (122) by a pin (127) which allows rotation between the engaged state and the released state. A trolley (100) according to claim 3 or 4, wherein the handle (120) includes a biasing member which is configured to urge the latch (123) toward the engaged state. A cart (100) according to any preceding claim, wherein:

• the handle (120) includes a bar (121) to provide a grip for the user and wherein
• said at least one branch (122) extends from the bar (121).

A cart (100) according to claim 6, wherein:

• each lateral side (150) of the frame (110) comprises two bushings (130),
• the handle (120) comprises two respective branches (120), where the bar (121) connects the two branches (120).

A trolley (100) according to claim 7, wherein the handle (120) comprises:

• two locks (123) provided on said two branches, respectively, and
• a lever (126) connecting the locks (123).

Trolley (100) according to any one of the preceding claims 3 to 8, in which the handle (120) comprises at least one latch (123) provided on the said at least one leg (122), in which the said at least one latch ( 123) is configured to be manipulated between:

• an engaged state, wherein said at least one leg (122) cannot be retracted from the socket (130), and
• a released state, wherein said at least one leg (122) can be retracted from the socket (130).

A cart (100) according to any preceding claim, wherein the cart (100) includes only caster wheels (140) mounted on the frame (110).
