Abstract

Device to allow a surfer to evolve on his surfboard by facilitating his posture. The present invention relates to an ergonomic pad, attached to the front of a surfboard, allowing a surfer: 1) to better adapt his paddling position in the water, when he is lying on his board, depending of its morphology. 2) To facilitate his "take off" (when he goes from lying down to standing up to start riding the wave). It consists essentially of an ergonomic pad (2) in removable polyurethane foam whose position on the board is adjustable in order to adapt to the different sizes and morphologies of the practitioners. It allows a more efficient and less tiring rowing movement at the same time. In addition, it facilitates the passage from the rowing position to the standing surfing position (take off) thanks to the additional support it provides. It facilitates the learning of beginner surfers and allows all surfers to progress by limiting muscle fatigue linked to a bad paddling position. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for the practice of surfing.

Description

[TITLE] ERGONOMIC REMOVABLE SURFBOARD PAD

The present invention relates to an ergonomic pad, attached to the front of a surfboard, allowing a surfer:

1) to better adapt his rowing position in the water, when he is lying on his board, according to his morphology. His bust comes to rest on the pad.

2) To facilitate his “take off” (when he goes from lying down to standing up to start riding a wave).

Currently on the market there are:

Surfboards of all sizes and all materials, but generally all flat or slightly curved on their front part.

1) In a lying position on their board (rowing position), all surfers, especially beginners, must arch their back to row while raising their head, causing pain in the neck and back after more or less long use. In addition, after a certain time in the water, muscle fatigue leads to a bad paddling position (bust glued to the board) which limits efforts and makes it difficult to catch waves, because the speed communicated to the board by the surfer is insufficient.

2) Regarding the "take off": passage from the lying position to the surfing position (standing on the board), the beginner has no help and this technique often requires learning several dozen sessions before to be able to be fully controlled.

The device according to the invention makes it possible to remedy these two drawbacks. It has an ergonomic pad in removable polyurethane foam whose attachment to the front of the board is adjustable to adapt to the different morphologies of practitioners. This pad is specific due to its ergonomic shape which must accommodate the surfer's bust. The ideal place to position your hands for the take off is materialized by a specific color on the side ends of the pad. Its fixing is ensured by a system of plastic nuts already used to fix certain fins on surfboards. It can be made of the same material as the board that supports it (polyurethane foam core, laminated with a resin composite).

1) In the lying position, the surfer's torso rests on the pad and thus makes an optimal angle with the horizontal in order to have the most efficient rowing movement possible in the water. In addition, it allows the surfer to provide less effort and relieves his back.

2) For the "take off", the surfer places his hands on the pad, in the location designated by a specific color and therefore has several additional centimeters in the direction of height when he gets up by pushing on his arms from bottom to top. This allows you to get up more quickly and with less muscular effort. In addition, the passage of the pelvis between the arms

is facilitated, ensuring a smoother movement and therefore increased stability.

Putting this device into practice does not require learning specific techniques and is aimed at any beginner or experienced surfer.

With reference to this drawing, the device comprises an ergonomic pad (2), fixed by a series of plastic nuts (3) to the surfboard (1). The surfboard (1) and the pad (2) are perforated to allow their relative position to be modified: the pad can thus be moved longitudinally in order to adapt to the size and more generally to the morphology of each surfer.

By way of non-limiting example, the pad (2) will have the width of the surfboard (1) on which it is fixed, a length of 30 cm and a height of 15 cm at its top.

Device for enabling a surfer to move around on his surfboard (1) by facilitating his posture, characterized in that it comprises an ergonomic pad (2) made of removable polyurethane foam whose attachment to the surfboard is adjustable in order to to adapt to the different sizes and morphologies of practitioners. It allows a more efficient and less tiring rowing movement in the water. In addition, it facilitates the passage from the rowing position to the standing position on the board (take off) thanks to the additional support it provides.
