L’amplificateur comporte au moins : un premier amplificateur push-pull (21) ; un deuxième amplificateur push-pull (22) ; un premier coupleur hybride 90° (23), couplé aux entrées desdits amplificateurs (21, 22) et un deuxième coupleur hybride 90° (24) couplé aux sorties desdits amplificateurs (21, 22), lesdits amplificateurs étant balancés par lesdits coupleurs (23, 24) ; des moyens de commande dudit deuxième amplificateur push-pull (22), de telle façon que : ledit deuxième amplificateur (22) est éteint lorsque la puissance d’un signal d’entrée (RFin) dudit amplificateur de puissance est inférieure à un premier seuil ; la puissance dudit deuxième amplificateur (22) étant commandée linéairement en fonction de la puissance dudit signal d’entrée, lorsque cette dernière est comprise entre ledit premier seuil et un deuxième seuil ; lesdits amplificateurs push-pull (21, 22) étant commandés à même puissance lorsque la puissance dudit signal d’entrée dépassant ledit deuxième seuil.
