Description

As Baudelaire already wrote in 1857 in his poem the hair, the latter is a characteristic attribute of femininity and seduction. The movement and dynamism of the hair is an essential factor.

The dynamism of the hair is characterized in particular by its ability to accompany and be in phase with the movements of the body.

This criterion concerns both straight, wavy or straight hair and, depending on personal cultures or styles, it may be desired to have more or less dynamic hair which more or less follows the movements of the body.

Thus, for example, the Brazilian culture values the wavy hair, which follows the body movements, as if they were dancing, while the Indian or Japanese cultures prefer the carefully aligned fibers which fall in a perfect drape and sway to the rhythm of walking smoothly.

In addition to its seduction factor, the dynamism of a hair is also representative of the health and general condition of its hair. In addition to the fact that this aspect is explicitly highlighted in the visual communication around the hair products, it is also an objective observation since an altered surface condition of the hair will generate stronger mechanical interactions between the fibers. , limiting the ease of the fibers to fall.

The dynamism of the hair can be characterized by evaluating in particular two main components, namely the response to the movement of a lock of hair and the fluidity of a lock of hair.

Galliano, M. Lheur, and R. Santoprete paru dans l’international Journal of Cosmetic Science Int.J.Cosmet.Sci.[0009] For more information on the evaluation of the response to the movement of a lock of hair, reference may be made to article by A. (1):56-62, 2015 et intitulé « Analysing the movement of a hair swatch using video and image analysis: A promising technique for exploring the dynamic properties of hair ». Ce document ne traite pas de la fluidité des cheveux.(1): 56-62, 2015 and entitled "Analyzing the movement of a hair swatch using video and image analysis: A promising technique for exploring the dynamic properties of hair". This document does not deal with the fluidity of hair.

The present application is concerned with the evaluation of the fluidity of a lock of hair.

Hair fluidity means the ability of said hair to have a more or less fluid and more or less individualized movement.

Currently, the fluidity of the hair is an attribute evaluated only visually through the hair loss test. More specifically, it is a question of assessing whether the hair falls individually (one after the other) or in bundles.

To do this, a section of hair is positioned on a comb to assess whether the falling out of the hair is done in bundles of hair or in an almost unitary manner, that is to say, fiber by fiber. The level of fluidity will therefore be associated with the visual perception of the fall of the hair, a particularly fluid hair having a fall of hair almost hair by hair.

From this test, the hairdressers can estimate the level of fluidity of a hair and deduce therefrom the improvement or the degradation of it after application of care, shape or coloring products or other products. cosmetic treatment.

During these evaluations, it is very difficult to ensure a movement of falling imposed on the hair which is reproducible and repeatable from one evaluation to another and independently of the product applied to the hair. It is therefore very difficult to interpret and compare the results from this type of evaluation.

There is thus a need for a reliable and reproducible method of evaluating the fluidity of a lock of hair which would in particular make it possible to better objectify the effects of the hair treatments applied to this characteristic of the hair.

To do this, the present application proposes a method for evaluating and measuring the fluidity of the hair in a lock of hair which has possibly been the subject of a prior hair treatment.

[0018] La méthode selon la présente demande comprend les étapes visant à :The method according to the present application comprises the steps aimed at:

- disposer une mèche de cheveux sensiblement à plat selon une direction sensiblement transversale des cheveux, les cheveux de ladite mèche étant maintenus fixes à une première extrémité, dite amont, une deuxième extrémité des cheveux, dite aval, étant laissée libre,- placing a lock of hair substantially flat in a substantially transverse direction of the hair, the hair of said lock being kept fixed at a first end, called upstream, a second end of the hair, called downstream, being left free,

- disposer les cheveux sur un support dérobant de manière à leur conférer temporairement une énergie potentielle de pesanteur supérieure à un minimum d’énergie potentielle de pesanteur correspondant à une position de repos de la mèche dans laquelle les cheveux formant la mèche s’étendent sensiblement en rideau dans une direction verticale descendante depuis leur première extrémité maintenue fixe,- arrange the hair on a concealed support so as to temporarily give them a potential gravity energy greater than a minimum of potential gravity energy corresponding to a rest position of the lock in which the hair forming the lock extends substantially in curtain in a vertical direction descending from their first end held fixed,

- retirer le support dérobant de manière à libérer les cheveux de la mèche progressivement le long de la direction transversale de maintien des cheveux, permettant ainsi leur chute libre vers la position de repos,- remove the concealed support so as to free the hair from the lock gradually along the transverse direction of holding the hair, thus allowing it to fall freely towards the rest position,

- mesurer, dans le plan vertical de la mèche au repos, notamment par analyse d’images à l’aide d’au moins une caméra, une surface recouverte par les cheveux ayant chuté en fonction de la progression de la libération des cheveux de la mèche évaluée.- measure, in the vertical plane of the lock at rest, in particular by image analysis using at least one camera, a surface covered by the hair which has fallen as a function of the progression of the release of the hair from the wick evaluated.

Thus, by providing a sliding support which allows the hair to be dropped from the lock in free fall in a controlled manner, it is possible to follow the fall of said hair and to observe whether they fall in a more or less individualized manner or rather in packages. In addition, the wick being simply supported, it does not undergo any excitation and the hair simply falls under the effect of their own weight.

Monitoring the surface covered by the hair as a function of their gradual release makes it possible to characterize and objectify the fluidity of the hair.

Indeed, as indicated above, flowing hair will tend to fall almost individually. Thus, the surface covered by the hair as a function of their gradual release will increase in an almost linear manner.

On the contrary, poorly flowing hair tends to fall in bundles, per group of hair. Thus, the surface covered by the hair as a function of their gradual release will increase by "jerk" and the corresponding curve will have stages reflecting these increases in surface area per bundle of hair.

Monitoring this surface as a function of hair release thus makes it possible to determine objective and measurable parameters representative of the fluidity of the hair.

Preferably, the transverse direction in which the wick is arranged flat is a horizontal direction, the hair being hung substantially all at the same height.

Preferably also the hair of the lock is kept fixed by their end corresponding to a hair root, the second end, free, corresponding to the ends of the hair.

In particular, the sliding support also extends in a horizontal direction, in particular in a direction substantially parallel to the direction of attachment of the lock of hair.

La vitesse de retrait de la barre support pourra être par exemple de 5 cm/s.Advantageously, the speed of hair release along the transverse direction is constant, the sliding support moving in particular at substantially constant speed. The withdrawal speed of the support bar could for example be 5 cm / s.

Preferably, the progression of hair release is represented by the time elapsed since the withdrawal of the sliding support.

Advantageously, the method comprises an additional step aimed at determining a coefficient of linear regression of the evolution of the surface as a function of time. The more the hair falls individually, the more the linear regression coefficient is close to or even equal to 1. On the contrary, when the hair falls in a grouped fashion, the linear regression coefficient decreases. However, it should be noted that the calculation of the linear regression coefficient limits the statistical smoothing effect.

Alternatively or additionally, a difference is calculated between the curve representing the covered area as a function of the elapsed time and its regression line, said calculation being based on the cumulative distances between these two curves.

It is also possible to assess the fluidity of the hair by determining a percentage of plateaus of the curve of interest, namely the curve of the surface covered as a function of the release of the hair and in particular of the time elapsed. The percentage of trays corresponds to the percentage of hair fallen in the form of bundles compared to the hair fallen individually. The length of said trays is also representative of the size of the bundles of hair. The higher the percentage of trays, the lower the fluidity.

Advantageously, the lock has previously undergone a cosmetic hair treatment, in particular a hair treatment intended to modify the fluidity of the hair. In particular, the hair treatment is a cosmetic treatment using a composition as defined in regulation (EC) N ° 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of November 30, 2009, relating to cosmetic products.

Preferably, the sliding support supports the wick in an upstream half of said wick, the downstream half being drooping.

Préférentiellement, le support dérobant est situé à une distance comprise en 1 et 10 cm de la barre de fixation, mieux entre 3 et 8 cm.Preferably, the sliding support is located at a distance of between 1 and 10 cm from the fixing bar, better between 3 and 8 cm.

Advantageously, the method comprises the additional steps aimed at carrying out the method on a different lock of hair, and in particular on a lock of hair which has not been treated or which has undergone a different treatment. The parameters extracted for each wick can thus be easily compared.

The present invention also relates to a device for the implementation of an evaluation method according to the invention, comprising a flat fixing bar of a lock of hair, said fixing bar extending preferably in a substantially horizontal direction, and a support bar movable relative to the fixing bar in a longitudinal direction of said fixing bar between an initial position in which said support bar is able to receive and support part of the lock of hair extending from the fixing bar and a withdrawal position in which it is no longer able to support the hair, the fixing bar and the support bar being positioned above an area of open space allowing a fall free of hair from the support bar into a substantially vertical plane extending under the fixing bar and corresponding to a position d e rest of the lock of hair after free fall of the hair.

Thus, by providing a movable support bar relative to the fixing bar holding the lock of hair, it is easy to make the hair fall in a controlled manner gradually by simply moving the support bar in a direction of withdrawal. The hair is easily gradually put in free fall in a controlled manner and without initial excitement.

Advantageously, the support bar is also arranged at a height slightly less than the height of the fixing bar. Preferably, the difference in height between the fixing bar and the support bar is between 1 and 7 cm.

Advantageously, the device comprises a screen with backlit surface disposed parallel to the vertical plane of rest of the lock of hair. The presence of such a screen makes it possible to increase the contrast between the surface covered by the hair and the uncoated surface. Increasing the contrast improves the reliability of the subsequent image analysis method.

Preferably, the device comprises at least one camera disposed opposite the vertical plane of rest of the wick and if necessary of the backlit surface, the camera preferably being a fast camera having an acquisition speed greater than or equal to 100 frames per second.

The invention can be better understood on reading the following description accompanied by non-limiting examples of implementation thereof, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

- la figure 1 est une représentation schématique d’un dispositif selon l’invention pour la mise en œuvre d’une méthode d’évaluation et de mesure selon l’invention,- Figure 1 is a schematic representation of a device according to the invention for the implementation of an evaluation and measurement method according to the invention,

The present application aimed at subjecting the hair of a lock to free fall, the directions in particular horizontal, vertical, up, down and the height are given, unless otherwise stated, relative to the terrestrial reference system.

Figure 1 shows a device 1 for the implementation of the evaluation method object of this application.

The device 1 comprises a frame supporting a fixing bar 2 extending in a substantially horizontal direction. The fixing bar 2 is configured to allow the flat fixing of a lock of hair 100 along said fixing bar 2.

In this case, the lock of hair 100 is held on the fixing bar using an adhesive strip. Alternatively, the wick can also be held by pinching between two elements of the fixing bar 2.

The lock of hair 100 is fixed to the fixing bar 2 by one end of the hair corresponding to its root. The opposite end of the hair, corresponding to their tip, is free. Thus, the lock of hair 100 is held on the fixing bar 2, the hair extending substantially perpendicularly from said fixing bar 2. In the rest position, the hair of the lock 100, naturally extends under the bar of fixing in a substantially vertical downward plane.

Furthermore, it will be ensured that the lock of hair 100 has a sufficient length and / or a sufficient capillary density so that it can fall in a representative manner.

More specifically, it is possible in particular to choose a lock of hair 100 having a length of hair between 12 and 25 centimeters, in particular approximately 20 cm. We can also choose a lock of hair with a hair density of about 1g / cm.

A mark or mark, which may in particular be in the form of a stop, ensures repeatable positioning of the wick 100 on the fixing bar 2.

The device 1 also comprises a support bar 3 extending in a horizontal direction parallel to the fixing bar 2. The mobile support bar 3 is disposed substantially at a distance between 3 and 8 cm from the fixing bar 2. The support bar 3 is also arranged at a slightly lower height from the fixing bar 2, in particular at a height of between 1 and 7 cm below the fixing bar 2.

The support bar 3 is movable in a longitudinal direction between an initial position as shown in Figure 1 in which said the support bar 3 is adapted to receive and support a part of the lock of hair 100 extending from the fixing bar 2 and a withdrawal position in which it is no longer able to support the hair of the lock 100.

The movable support bar 3 can be moved from its initial position to its withdrawal position by any means, preferably using a motorized axis that can be controlled in speed so as to allow movement of the support bar 3 at constant speed.

The fixing bar 2 and the support bar 3 are also positioned above a clear space area allowing free fall of the hair of the lock 100 from the support bar 3 into a substantially vertical plane extending under the fixing bar 2 and corresponding to the rest position of the lock of hair 100 after free fall of the hair 100 when the support bar 3 is withdrawn.

L’écran 4 est disposé dans un plan parallèle audit plan vertical de repos de la mèche 100.The device 1 also comprises a screen 4 with backlit surface arranged parallel to the vertical plane of rest of the lock of hair 100. The screen 4 allows the downward vertical plane of rest of the lock to be diffused and homogeneous The screen 4 is arranged in a plane parallel to said vertical rest plane of the wick 100.

Finally, the device 1 is supplemented by a camera 5 arranged opposite the vertical plane of rest of the wick and if necessary of the backlit surface of the screen 4. The camera 5 is preferably a fast camera having a speed acquisition greater than or equal to 100 images per second.

The camera 5 is arranged so that its field of vision includes at least part of the space released under the fixing bar 2 and the support bar 3.

The evaluation of the fluidity of a lock of hair 100 using the device 1 previously described is carried out as follows.

The lock of hair 100 is disposed substantially flat along the fixing bar 2 in a substantially transverse direction of the hair. As indicated previously, the hair of said lock 100 is held on the support bar 2 using an adhesive strip by a first end, called upstream, corresponding to the hair root constituting the lock 100. The second end of the hair , called downstream, corresponding to the tip of the hair constituting the lock, is left free.

In the initial position, as shown schematically in Figure 2a, the hair of the wick 100 is arranged on the support bar 3 on which they rest under the effect of gravity.

Therefore, the support bar 3 temporarily gives them a potential gravity energy greater than a minimum potential gravity energy corresponding to the rest position of the lock in which the hair forming the lock extends substantially in curtain in the vertical direction down from their first end held fixed.

In accordance with the present application, the support bar 3 is moved from its initial position to its withdrawal position, thus progressively releasing the hair from the lock 100 which, no longer supported by said support bar 3, falls towards their rest position in the vertical plane (Figure 2b).

In the position of complete withdrawal of the support bar 3, no more hair from the lock 100 is supported and all of the hair has dropped into its rest position (FIG. 2c).

[0062] Grace à la caméra 5, le dispositif 1 permet d’enregistrer une séquence d’images pendant le déplacement de la barre support 3 (figures 3a à 3f).Thanks to the camera 5, the device 1 makes it possible to record a sequence of images during the movement of the support bar 3 (FIGS. 3a to 3f).

When the support bar 3 is hidden, the hair falls in the field of the camera. An analysis system will estimate the evolution of the surface (S) covered by the wick dropped in a calculation window (C) (area of interest adjustable by the operator) as a function of time (or images) as shown in Figure 4.

The calculation window is also determined so that it covers hair loss from the first hair to the last hair of the lock 100.

The images are analyzed after binarization, and the covered area determined by contrast analysis between the pixels according to image processing methods known per se.

Plus précisément, la figure 5 montre une courbe représentant la surface normalisée (Sn) de la fenêtre de calcul recouverte par les cheveux en fonction du temps (t).Figure 5 thus shows the progression of hair loss as a function of the time elapsed since the removal of the movable support bar 3. More specifically, FIG. 5 shows a curve representing the normalized surface (Sn) of the calculation window covered by the hair as a function of time (t).

As shown in FIG. 6, it is also possible to plot a cumulative histogram (Hn) of sizes of hair bundles corresponding to the percentage of hair fallen as a function of the elementary size (Te) of the bundle of fallen hair. The size of the bundle of fallen hair corresponds in particular to the jumps of covered area and can be easily obtained from the previous curve in FIG. 5 and / or from the difference in covered area between two successive images.

Obviously, in order to have optimal precision, we will use a high speed camera capturing images at a frequency greater than 100 images per second.

[0069] A partir de ces analyses, plusieurs paramètres représentatifs de la fluidité des cheveux peuvent être calculés :From these analyzes, several parameters representative of the fluidity of the hair can be calculated:

[0070]- Analyse de la surface couverte au cours du temps :- Analysis of the area covered over time:

The plates represent the phase where the hair does not fall in front of the camera (for example, when there are adhesive or mechanical interactions between the hair). The phases of falling out of hair correspond to the zones where the normalized surface increases.

Avec l'apparition de plateaux, celui-ci décroît (Courbe F2 de la figure 5 cheveux tombant en paquets).A first parameter that can be calculated is the linear regression coefficient R 2 of the curve. Indeed, when the hair falls individually, the straight line is perfectly linear, the coeff. of reg. is then equal to 1 (Curve F1 in Figure 5n very flowing hair). With the appearance of trays, it decreases (Curve F2 in Figure 5 hair falling in bundles).

A second parameter that can be calculated is the difference at R 2 corresponding to the "surface" between the curve of interest and its regression line. The calculation is based on the cumulative distances between these two curves and can be complementary or alternative to the linear regression coefficient which limits the statistical smoothing effect. The higher the value of the difference, the lower the level of fluidity will be considered.

A third parameter that can be calculated is the percentage of trays corresponding to the percentage of hair that has fallen in the form of bundles relative to the hair that has fallen individually. The higher the percentage, the lower the level of fluidity.

From this curve, it is possible to calculate the distribution of the size of the packets for a given percentage of fallen hair.

[0076]- Analyse de l'histogramme de répartition de la taille des paquets de cheveux tombés :- Analysis of the histogram of distribution of the size of the bundles of fallen hair:

The actual curve is positioned relative to an ideal curve (HO curve in Figure 6) corresponding to a unitary fall (ie "hair by hair"), which amounts to determining an elementary packet size that is that is, the smallest amount detectable by the system. The curves H1 and H2 in FIG. 6 correspond respectively to a very fluid fall and in bundles.

A first parameter that can be calculated is the area between the interest curve and the ideal curve: the area between the interest curve and the ideal curve is calculated. The smaller the gap, the higher the fluidity and vice versa.

[0079] Un deuxième paramètre pouvant être calculé est une pente de la courbe d’intérêt permettant d'estimer la vitesse du tomber des cheveux (partie linéaire).A second parameter that can be calculated is a slope of the interest curve making it possible to estimate the speed of hair loss (linear part).

A third parameter that can be calculated is the maximum size of the bundles with different percentages of fallen hair: the size of the bundles is calculated for a percentage of fallen hair corresponding to 10, 50 and 90% of fallen hair.

According to one mode of implementation of the method, the lock has previously undergone a cosmetic hair treatment, in particular a hair treatment intended to modify the fluidity of the hair.

For comparison, the method is also implemented on one or more different locks, having notably undergone a different treatment or an absence of treatment.
