L'invention porte principalement sur un procédé de détection d'usure et/ou de dysfonctionnement de balais (90) d'une machine électrique tournante (1) comportant un circuit d'excitation (10), un stator (11) et un rotor (5), ledit circuit d'excitation (10) alimentant en courant d'excitation, à travers des balais (90) et un collecteur (9), une bobine d'excitation (8) dudit rotor (5), caractérisé en ce que ledit procédé comprend : - une étape de détermination de rapports cycliques maximums admissibles en fonction de variations de paramètres électriques qui dépendent de conditions de fonctionnement de la machine électrique tournante (1), - une étape de calcul d'un rapport cyclique moyen, - une étape de comparaison du rapport cyclique moyen avec un rapport cyclique maximal admissible sélectionné en fonction d'un point de fonctionnement de la machine électrique tournante, - une étape de génération d'un signal de défaut lorsque le rapport cyclique moyen devient supérieur au rapport cyclique maximal admissible.The invention mainly relates to a method for detecting wear and / or malfunction of brushes (90) of a rotating electric machine (1) comprising an excitation circuit (10), a stator (11) and a rotor.
