Abstract

L’invention concerne un chapeau de butée d’extrémité (11) pour un palier à roulement (5), en particulier destiné à être installé dans une boîte d’essieu ferroviaire d’un dispositif de support (1) pour un essieu ferroviaire (2), le chapeau (11) étant réalisé sous la forme d’un disque concave délimité par une paroi latérale annulaire présentant un axe de symétrie (A) qui est coaxial, lors de l’utilisation, avec un axe de symétrie (B) du palier, par une paroi d’extrémité (14) positionnée transversalement à l’axe de symétrie (A), et par une partie de liaison (15) annulaire qui présente une forme coudée, reliant la paroi d’extrémité (14) à la paroi latérale (13) ; la paroi d’extrémité (14) étant pourvue d’une pluralité de trous traversants (16) pour des vis (12) respectives servant à la fixation du chapeau, lors de l’utilisation, à l’essieu (2), et la paroi latérale (13) se terminant, du côté opposé par rapport à la paroi d’extrémité, par une surface frontale (17) annulaire conçue pour venir en appui, lors de l’utilisation, contre une bague (6) du palier ; le chapeau (11) étant caractérisé en ce que la paroi d’extrémité (14) présente une épaisseur, mesurée dans au moins une direction radiale (D2) passant à travers un axe de symétrie (C) desdits trous (16), qui est variable de façon continue dans une direction radiale entre un maximum (S3), situé à un emplacement essentiellement intermédiaire entre un bord intérieur (28) du trou (16) et l’axe de symétrie (A), et un minimum (S1), à l’emplacement de l’axe de symétrie (A).
