Abstract

The invention relates to an adjustable support device for packages of different dimensions.

STATE OF THE PRIOR ART [0002] There are already devices intended to support large objects or packages for storage and / or transport purposes.

Such devices are described in particular in GB2360831 and generally include a base, such as a pallet formed of crosspieces and longitudinal members and on which is mounted a set of shims whose curvilinear inner faces are intended to adapt to package shapes and whose spacing can be adjusted to suit packages of different diameters.

However, these prior devices are not suitable for receiving packages of varying lengths. However, the incompatibility of the dimensions of the shims with those of the packages is likely to involve risks of instability which are all the more detrimental to safety as certain packages are heavy and bulky and have a strong tendency to tilt and roll. .

In addition, as and when successive uses of these devices, the wedges eventually wear out and the timing and stability of the packages are thereby compromised.

PRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION The invention aims to remedy the drawbacks of the state of the art by seeking at the same time to eliminate the causes of instability over time of the packages on their support and to optimize the timing of these packages by an improved adjustment of the support device making it possible to adjust both the length and the width.

For this purpose, the invention aims to improve traditional pallets by providing an adjustable support and transport device, characterized in that each crosspiece comprises two opposite blocks provided with an upper groove receiving, in the one of the blocks, a sheath inside which is inserted a first end of a telescopic spacer rod and, in the other block, the second end of said rod and in that said longitudinal members comprise two telescopic bars mounted on said blocks perpendicular to said groove and which are each capped by at least one block forming a wedge, placed on one of the underlying blocks and having, opposite the other block, a contact face with the package.

According to an advantageous characteristic, the sleeve has a series of orifices delimiting as many spacing positions of said blocks forming crosspieces and in which snap pins are carried carried by said telescopic rod.

Preferably, the pads are made of cellular material.

According to an alternative embodiment, the studs slide on the bars, which offers an additional possibility of adjusting the device.

According to another characteristic, the studs have a lower groove in which is slidably inserted the bar forming a spar.

Preferably, the groove has a width greater than the section of said bar so as to adjust the spacing between the studs facing each other.

According to a specific variant, the bars are mounted by clipping on the blocks.

According to yet another characteristic, the studs comprise two lower lateral tabs delimiting a groove ensuring a removable nesting on the underlying blocks.

According to an advantageous variant, the contact face of the studs with the package is bevelled.

Preferably this bevelled face is formed of at least two sides inclined relatively to each other.

According to a preferred variant, the device comprises three crosspieces and two longitudinal members each carrying a set of identical and symmetrical studs.

Thanks to the device of the invention which allows an adjustment of the package support area both in width and in length, it becomes possible to use a single type of pallet by adapting it to packages of different dimensions. (widths, diameters and lengths].

In addition, the cellular material used to make the pads has an elasticity which allows efficient and stable wedging of the heaviest packages by marrying, by deformation, their outer envelope.

The device of the invention is particularly well suited to supporting cylindrical packages but can also be used with packages of any shape.

Finally, the device of the invention is light and at least partially removable, which allows modular assembly, easy replacement of its defective components and space-saving storage of the device.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS Naturally, the embodiments illustrated by the figures presented above are given only by way of nonlimiting examples. It is explicitly provided that one can combine these different modes and variants to propose others.

The device of the invention shown in the figures is suitable and intended for the support and transport of packages of different shapes and variable dimensions and more particularly, of cylindrical packages c, C (Figures 2A, 2B) such as coils.

Such a device comprises, traditionally, a base 1 formed of crosspieces 2 and rails 3 and on which is mounted a set of shims intended to support packages c and C stably.

The invention aims to improve traditional devices by making each cross member 2 in the form of two blocks 21, 22 facing each other connected by a telescopic member 23 forming a spacer.

These blocks are provided with a longitudinal groove 20 extending substantially in the middle on their upper face and intended to receive the telescopic connecting member 23.

The connecting member 23 is rigid and comprises a sheath 23a inside which is inserted a first end of a spacer rod 23b. The rod 23b is designed so that it can be moved in a sliding manner in the sheath 23a ensuring its guidance. In the embodiment more particularly illustrated by FIG. 3, the sheath 23a and the rod 23b have a transverse section in parallelepiped (rectangle or square) but other profiles (for example, of circular section) would be possible without leaving the frame of the invention.

The sheath 23a is here housed in the groove 20 of the block 21 while the free end of the rod 23b is fixed in the groove 20 of the block 22 opposite.

The sheath is here provided, on its upper face, with a series of orifices 230 cooperating by snap-fastening with corresponding locking lugs 231 carried by the rod 23b. The orifices 230 delimit as many fixed and stable positions of extension of the telescopic member 23 corresponding to different spacings of the blocks 21, 22. This configuration makes it possible to adapt the width of the intermediate support zone to packages c, C of variable diameters, as illustrated in FIGS. 2A, 2B.

The side members 3, for their part, comprise two also telescopic bars 31, 32 mounted in parallel on the blocks 21, 22 and perpendicular to the groove 20. The bars 31, 32 are preferably fixed by clipping onto the blocks 21 , 22, as illustrated in FIG. 3.

The telescopic bars 31, 32 are each capped by at least one stud 4 of elastically deformable cellular material ((for example made of expanded polystyrene or expanded polypropylene) forming a wedge, placed on one of the blocks 21, 22 underlying. The studs 4 are here all identical but the geometry and the shape of their upper faces could be profiled to conform, at least locally, to the outer envelope of the packages that they are intended to support. In order to be able to adapt the support device to different types of package, the studs 4 are removably mounted on the bars and the blocks.

On their underside, the studs 4 have a transverse groove 42 in which is slidably inserted, the bar 31 or 32 forming a beam. The groove 42 has a width greater than the section of said bar so as to precisely adjust the spacing between the studs facing each other, once the position has been fixed. In the embodiment of FIGS. IA, IB and 2A , 2B, each bar 31, 32 is capped by a set of three identical and symmetrical studs 4 mounted on two parallel crosspieces 2 formed by three pairs of blocks 21, 22 connected by telescopic members 23. The total length of the studs in each set lateral here is less than the length of the bars so that it is possible, by moving them towards or away from each other by sliding on the bars, to have an additional option for adjusting the support length of the parcel.

According to another alternative embodiment not shown, the telescopic connecting member 23 consists of a hydraulic cylinder with a cylinder and a rod housed in the respective grooves 20 of the blocks 21, 22.

Of course, it is possible without departing from the scope of the invention, to use, for the sleepers and the side members, any other telescopic system making it possible to adjust, respectively, the spacing between the two series of blocks and the distance between the studs.

The studs 4 also include two lower lateral legs 43, 44 substantially vertical and of frustoconical section which define a groove 40 ensuring a removable nesting on the blocks 21, 22 underlying. To this end, the width of the groove 40 is adjusted to the thickness of the blocks so as to establish a slight tightening by deformation of the legs 43, 44 which makes it possible to obtain a firm hold of the studs 4 on the blocks 21, 22 .

In order to avoid a transverse displacement of the studs 4, their lower face is provided with bosses (not visible in the figures) which extend perpendicularly to the legs 43, 44 being, optionally, carried by said legs. These bosses are engaged in notches 24 formed on either side of the blocks 21, 22 on their side walls, as illustrated in FIG. 3.

Each stud 4 has, opposite the identical stud opposite, one or more faces 41 intended to be in contact with the package c, C.

The contact face of the pads 4 with the packages is bevelled and is formed of at least two sections 41a, 41b inclined relatively to one another, as illustrated by Figures IA, IB and 4. The pan upper 41a has a larger surface than the lower pan 41b but a lower inclination. In the embodiments shown, the lower panel 41b does not extend to the underlying block. Preferably, the studs 4 have a flat upper edge 41c of small width.

As illustrated by FIGS. 2A and 2B, the upper panel 41a is more particularly suitable for supporting large packages C (FIG. 2B) unlike the lower panel 41b which is more suitable for small packages c ( Figure 2A).

According to a variant not shown of the invention, it is possible to produce two beams, the structure of which conforms to that of the embodiments described above but which would be mounted convergently, or at least not parallel, on the sleepers. If so, the bars would not necessarily be straight. This variant is more particularly intended for packages of conical, frustoconical, cylindro-conical or complex shape and not regular. In this case, the studs and, in particular, their contact face with the packages could have a profile adapted to the outer envelope of these packages and which would possibly be different from one stud to the other along the side rails and on the other hand. and other of the package accommodation. Similarly, the orientation of the legs and the geometry of the lower groove of the studs would be adapted as a function of their relative mounting position on the underlying blocks.
