Abstract

Slatted bedstead foot, the shape of which gives it the additional function of keeping the mattress in place during the handling of the mattress. The invention relates to a form of slatted base of bed, which, because of its extension, also has the function of maintaining the mattress in its place during handling thereof. It is constituted in its upper part (2) of a cheek (2b) which largely exceeds the bed base so as to form an abutment against which the lower part of the mattress will inevitably lean during its handling, which will avoid the one to get out of its original location.

The present invention relates to a form of slatted base foot, which, due to its extension, also has the function of holding the mattress in place when handling the latter.

A bed base with visible slats mounted on four feet does not offer any natural adhesion to the mattress which is placed on it, because the wooden slats which make up the padding and suspension of the bed base are smooth and slightly curved. When you install bed linen on a mattress, you manipulate it with a tendency to push it sideways. Due to the lack of adhesion of the mattress in contact with the slats, the latter moves and leaves its initial location which is to be centered on the bed base. It is therefore necessary to reposition the mattress in its place after each manipulation. There are currently metal stops on the market which hook onto the frame of the bed base and provide a solution to this inconvenience, but they constitute an accessory to buy, the attachment of which differs according to the tubular sections of the bed bases and requires additional expenditure.

The invention of this form of foot overcomes this drawback. It comprises in its final form a lower part (1) whose function is to support the bed base, and an upper part (2) whose function is to oppose the movement of the mattress when it is handled.

The upper part (2) has a first cheek (2a) on which the external lateral face (3b) of the tubular, square or rectangular metal framework of the slatted base rests. There follows a slight stall of 5 mm (2ab) to give a little play to the mattress when it is trapped between the four legs of the box spring. Then comes the second cheek (2b), a flat part with angles that can be rounded to avoid the risk of injury, which largely exceeds the frame of the box spring so as to form a stop against which the lower part of the mattress will inevitably lean when handling, which will prevent it from leaving its original location. The 5 mm stall (2ab) made at the junction of the two cheeks and this on each of the four feet will allow a total play of one centimeter between the mattress and the abutment part (2b) of the invention. This centimeter is made to make room for the laundry that surrounds the mattress.

The 5 mm (2ab) dropout is not mandatory. Π just prevents the mattress from being compressed between the four stops formed by the cheeks (2b). To simplify the manufacture and if we want to keep this play of one centimeter, we can during the implementation leave a vacuum of 5 mm, the cheek (2b) would descend without stalling in the material to the dish (the ). However, the base would no longer be wedged against the metal frame and could quickly lose its initial position.

Traditionally the feet of a slatted base are four in number and are positioned in pairs on each side of the base on the tubular section the length of the latter. With this invention, the mattress can not slide laterally, it is now held in place thanks to two stops on each side of the box spring. One can at leisure add a fifth and even a sixth foot of this shape on each tubular section of the width of the box spring to perfect the holding of the mattress.

With reference to these drawings, this slatted base foot has a lower part called “base” (1) and an upper part called “stop” (2).

The lower part (1), which rests on the ground, accommodates the slatted base on a made dish (la), provided in its center with a female threaded insert (lb) which is used to fix the foot to the base.

The lower part (1), which is rectangular in shape in the figures, can be made in a square, round, conical shape, or any other decorative shape as long as this does not affect the effectiveness of the invention.

The upper part (2) consists of a first cheek (2a) against which the external lateral face (3b) of the metal frame of the bed base (3) is wedged. And a second cheek (2b) in the extension of the first but unhooked by 5 mm, protruding enough from the base to play its role as a stop. To avoid any possibility of injury and by aesthetic choice, we have rounded the two angles (2ba) of the upper part of the second cheek (2b), which has no influence on the effectiveness of the invention.

The fixing of each leg to the box spring is done using a flat head screw (5). This screw (5) is inserted into holes (4a) and (4b) made in the tube (3) of the box spring frame. The tube (3) is here a square section tube comprising an upper face (3a), lateral faces (3b) and (3c) and a lower face (3d). It is then screwed into the threaded insert (lb) of the box spring located in the center of the flat (la) at the bottom, and is tightened moderately using a screwdriver or a wrench suitable for the head of this screw.

Different materials can be used for the manufacture of this base, in particular wood, plastic or metal.

This form of the base of the bed base according to the invention is particularly intended for slatted bed bases comprising a metal tubular frame of different sections whose slats adjoin this frame. It is capable of application in the furniture foot industry and specifically in the field of bedding accessories.
