Abstract

The present invention relates to the field of restraint of animals, in particular cattle, and relates to an apparatus for lifting the head of cattle from bottom to top, when these are already taken either on a headlock or any other means of immobilization.

At present, when the animals are caught or obstructed in the headlock or other means (headlock in the livestock buildings or on a device like a cage or corridor), their heads are not immobilized to make interventions safe which makes handling dangerous, with risks of ineffectiveness in the administration of the treatments provided.

This head lifter, object of the invention is in the form of a mini trolley type cart comprising the device for lifting the heads which allows the breeder to reduce his painfulness and to move it easily.

However the existing head lifts on the market are to be worn, to be installed on the headlock and can only lift one animal at a time. In addition, the head lifts available on the market require in their installation to approach the animals or to stow them on the support, obliging the intervener to take risks (blow of horns or head on the part of the animals) .

The present invention aims to provide an apparatus for lifting one or more heads easily, quickly and by mobilizing only one person.

In addition, the fact of lifting at least two animal heads at the same time makes it possible to reduce or cancel the force exerted by an animal on the device, offering optimized conditions of use.

The present invention therefore relates to an apparatus for lifting the head or heads of cattle, which moves easily, quickly, the implementation of which does not require adjustment or adaptation for each animal.

The advantage provided to users by lifting at least two animals at the same time, led us to design this device on a mobile frame, rolling with the help of devil-type wheels. This facilitated mobility allows the user not to carry loads, to make trips quickly to intervene where the animals to be treated are located.

The carrying frame includes one to several receptacles according to the models (2 to 4 in a common way), taking the shape of the head of a bovine, in order to lift it and to contain it well.

The device is designed to pick up the head flush with the ground (lifted from bottom to top). In a natural way, with the approach of a bovine already caught in a means of restraint or head locks, this one puts its head flush with the ground while pulling back (instinct of defense or flight). in these configurations, the risk of accident is increased for a worker. The animal feeling caught or in danger will seek to flee or to struggle.

The present invention overcomes these problems encountered.

The device being on wheels allows it to be brought closer to position the receptacles as close as possible to the part of the animals to be lifted.

It helps not to intervene manually and directly on the animal (case of other devices on the market).

When the device is well placed, it suffices to actuate a handle fitted with a secure winch to lift the assembly and cause one or more cattle to raise their heads and immobilize them while carrying out the treatment.

This device must evolve on healthy soils, stabilized to offer suitable conditions of use (valid for rolling the whole).

In order to be able to pick up the head of a bovine animal as close as possible to the ground, the receptacle or receptacles containing the head of the animals (form coming to marry a head from the outside) is or are mounted on a frame serving as a guide during lifting. This frame serves both as a lift for the entire device, as a guide during the lifting and must have a sufficient height to force the animals to lift their mouths so that a worker can carry out these operations efficiently and without risks.

Raising the head of an animal from below (under its jaws) is not an intrusive operation for the latter. In contrast where when you put a fly in the nostrils, the animal feels assaulted and can have unexpected and dangerous reactions. Indeed, the nostrils being small to feed the respiratory capacity, any obstruction is very badly experienced.

The device can include one or two self-supporting vertical frames, preferably a single frame to lighten the weight (maneuverability). This frame serves as a guide for carrying out the movements of raising or lowering the device. The guidance can be improved by means of bearings or rollers reducing the force to be exerted.

The lifting receptacles are connected to the winch (manual or secure) by cables or ropes or other means.

One or two crosspieces support the receptacles.

This crosspiece is connected to the self-supporting frame.

It is enough to carry out a few turns with the handle or the winch to obtain a complete or partial lifting of the device.

These two crosspieces supporting the lifting receptacles will open out at their ends so as to be able to receive other receptacles during multiple versions.

The receptacles to contain the head of a bovine is adjustable in depth and in length on the cross-pieces, so as to be able to adapt to each configuration. Adjustments will be made by sliding systems both in length and in depth. In fact, the buildings where the animals are housed are not all designed in the same way. The headlamps can be fixed in front of or between the posts (supports), and a concrete wall forming the trough completes these installations. The distance to best approach the headlocks can vary. Due to these settings, the operator can configure the device to obtain optimal conditions for using the present invention.

The present invention may receive a securing module on the headlock, preferably in the upper part to leave a maximum of space in the lower part for interventions. This securing aims at the stability of the whole, to avoid that a very nervous animal can move the device. This stowage will be controlled remotely without contact with the target support to position this device.

The present invention making it possible to reasonably lift at least one animal, or even 2 to 4 animals at the same time, offers several advantages.

To lift several animals, the device has a size proportional to the number while increasing its stability, an important point when restraining animals.

Furthermore, the force exerted by an animal is canceled out or greatly reduced by the presence of the other animals taken in their respective receptacles.

Another important point noted by animal behavior specialists and by users is that when at least two animals are in the presence of each other, they reassure themselves, significantly reducing stress. This advantage will allow the user to intervene in much better conditions.

To be able to lift the heads of several animals at the same time, it was necessary to find tips to reduce the stresses on the structure and reduce the efforts to be exerted, apart from the possibility of adding assistance such as an electric winch. a crossbar guide supporting the receptacles with three opposite rollers. Indeed the animals exert stresses on the structure in all directions and this unevenly when several animals are taken in their respective receptacles. This principle with 3 rollers (2 of 1 side + 1 on the opposite side) erases or erases the forces induced by the force of the animals. The structure serving as a guide for the up-down movement being in a tube, other rollers (or bearings) can be added to the opposite faces to improve the movements.

The frame 2 is in the form of a self-supporting frame of a base resting on the ground for seat (or stability of the assembly)

One or two crosspieces 4 comprising the receptacles 5 of heads are connected to the frame 2 by non-exclusive means of rollers or bearings to facilitate upward and downward movements

These crosspieces 4 come to receive a guidance system with 3 bearings or rollers to minimize friction by the pressure exerted during the raising or lowering of the receptacles containing the heads of the animals

However for the sake of simplification or for economic reasons, these crosspieces 4 may be welded to tubes which will slide on the self-supporting frame 2

The number of animals can vary on the same building span, ranging from 7 to 12 animals over 6.00 m in length, for example. ditto for spans of 4.00 m, 5.00 m or 7.50 m commonly encountered in the field with a variable number of animals.

In addition, the receptacles 5 are adjustable in depth by a sliding system so as to come as close as possible to the restraint system, where the animals are taken. the animals of the device (straight or inclined positioning of the feeders).
