Abstract

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé d'immobilisation d'un déchet comprenant du mercure, qui comprend : - la stabilisation du mercure du déchet par précipitation du mercure en sulfure de mercure(ll) ; puis - l'encapsulation du déchet par cimentation, la cimentation comprenant l'enrobage du déchet dans une pâte cimentaire obtenue par gâchage d'une composition comprenant une poudre d'au moins un liant choisi parmi les ciments hydrauliques, les ciments activés par des bases et les ciments activés par des acides, avec une solution aqueuse de gâchage, puis le durcissement de la pâte cimentaire ; et qui est caractérisé en ce que la précipitation du mercure en sulfure de mercure(ll) est obtenue par réaction du mercure avec un thiosulfate en milieu aqueux basique, sous agitation et en présence d'un sulfure d'un métal alcalin, le rapport molaire du thiosulfate au mercure étant au moins égal à 1. Applications : immobilisation de tout déchet mercuriel quelle que soit son origine et, en particulier, de déchets mercuriels issus d'installations nucléaires.
